MoonBikes, the world’s first electric snowbike, launched its premiere limited edition release this week due to high consumer demand - a sleek new all black MoonBike. The new style is available for pre-order today while supplies last for expected delivery in November 2022, in time for the winter ski season.
Only 200 black MoonBikes will be produced globally and 100 will be available for U.S. consumers. The latest version will include the same elements as the classic white and black/red styles that sold out during the brand’s U.S. launch this past December. In total, there will be only 500 new units produced for the North American market for the Winter 2022-2023 season.
MoonBikes aims to appeal to mountain lovers as the ultimate fun adventure experience while on the trail. Combined with the torque and power of an electric vehicle, Founder Nicolas Muron’s creation is changing the future of winter exploration and e-mobility for snow enthusiasts. MoonBikes’ revolutionary design, featuring a sleek front ski and rear track, gives users the freedom of an e-bike, with the power of a motorcycle. When combined with the ultra-quiet motor, the rider is provided a unique experience that’s a sustainable solution to winter exploration.
“My goal was to utilize my experience as an aerospace engineer to create a unique way to explore winter with an ultra-light electric vehicle, that is easy to use, quiet, sustainable, and above all, fun to ride,” says MoonBikes Founder and CEO Nicolas Muron. “If we can cut emissions from snowmobiles and off-highway vehicles on the trails and backroads and move to a more eco-conscious option, that’s a step in the right direction.”
The brand’s first production run sold-out in the U.S. in under two months via its direct-to-consumer site and MoonBikes is anticipating an even higher demand next season. At the price point of $8,900 USD, MoonBikes is the coolest new must-have in the world of electric bikes and adventure gear for the affluent and eco-conscious consumer.
Many in this demographic are a part of the over 200k and growing registered Tesla owners in the U.S. according to CNET, who seek to be on the cusp of the most exciting new innovative products on the market. Mountain homeowners have already embraced the bikes as a fun way to enjoy nearby trails without disturbing the peaceful snowscape.
Winter tourism industries embrace MoonBikes
Over forty ski resorts, hotels, restaurants, and rental operations across Europe have embraced MoonBikes to provide staff and customers a smart alternative for winter travel and exploration. This has resulted in a higher efficiency rate, diversification of revenue streams and increased profitability. MoonBikes has signed partnerships with several private facilities and retailers in North America and is expected to mirror the European expansion to resorts over the next year.
Born in the French Alps, and already a massive success across Europe, Muron’s mission was to create an electric snowbike that would revolutionize mobility on snow. Democratizing snow mobility with a pioneering design of an ultra-light and affordable snowbike with zero emissions, MoonBikes is the perfect alternative to the gas, and noise pollution, caused by large snowmobiles and intends to drive the development of sustainable tourism in the mountains. The MoonBikes snowbike is only one-third the size of the average snowmobile.
Muron is a lifelong mountain and outdoor adventure lover with an aeronautical engineering degree from Georgia Tech and six years’ experience at Dassault Aviation. He used his creativity to bring his vision of MoonBikes to fruition while prototyping the first bikes on his kitchen table in 2016. This new category of vehicle is led by an innovative silent propulsion system designed and patented by MoonBikes and assembled by BOSCH.
Soon after closing a $5M seed round, MoonBikes decided to accelerate its commercial development in the U.S. and as a first step, opened an office in Boulder, CO in September 2021. The company aims to double its production globally over the next few years.
