Murata Machinery USA (Muratec USA), developer of machining and automation solutions, announces the North American premiere of its MT1065EX at the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) 2025, booth 3073, held April 1-3 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Designed for bar-fed machining applications, the MT1065EX features two spindles and two live-tool turrets, with Y-axis functionality in the upper turret for enhanced versatility. It accommodates 6" or 8" chucks powered by an 18.5kW left spindle motor and a 15kW right spindle motor, ensuring robust performance across demanding applications.

Each turret offers 12 tool stations with 24 index positions, allowing independent machining operations or synchronized pinch-turning and milling. The MT1065EX's compact design optimizes floor space while delivering superior machining capabilities.

“The MT1065EX represents the next evolution in CNC turning technology,” says Jeff Kalmbach, general manager of Muratec’s Machine Tools Division. “This machine’s combination of dual spindles, live-tool turrets, and advanced thermal compensation provides unmatched accuracy and operational flexibility, making it an ideal solution for both high-volume and high-mix, low-volume production environments.”

Key features of Muratec’s MT1065EX Twin Spindle CNC Turning Center:

  • Thermal compensation system: Equipped with 11 strategically placed sensors, the MT1065EX maintains long-term stability and accuracy during extended operations.
  • Versatile axis configuration: Both turrets can access either spindle, enhancing operational flexibility.
  • Cutting-edge software: Simplifies programming, optimizes tooling paths, and reduces material waste while integrating production scheduling and real-time monitoring.
  • Compact, flexible design: Configurable chip conveyor supports right-side or rear discharge for seamless shop integration.

“Manufacturers today demand more than just speed and precision—they need solutions that optimize every aspect of their operations,” adds Kalmbach. “The MT1065EX does exactly that, helping shops reduce cycle times, minimize waste, and boost overall productivity.”

Muratec USA’s commitment to Midwest manufacturing
The Midwest, and particularly Michigan and Ohio, has long been the heart of American manufacturing and the historical nexus of the nation’s automotive industry. Muratec USA recognizes the region’s critical role in driving technological advancements and industrial growth.

Cleveland, the host city of PMTS 2025, is a vital hub for precision machining with a rich history of industrial innovation and a strong manufacturing base. With more than 2,000 Muratec spindles running within 150 miles of Cleveland, Muratec USA proudly supports an array of Midwest industries, including, but not limited to, medical, firearms, fittings, and general job shops.

“The Midwest has been the backbone of American manufacturing for generations, and its role in driving innovation remains as strong as ever,” explains Kalmbach. “Our participation in PMTS 2025 is a reflection of our deep commitment to supporting manufacturers in this vital region, providing advanced CNC turning solutions that enhance efficiency, precision, and automation. By working closely with Midwest manufacturers, we continue to develop technologies that help them stay competitive in an evolving industry.”

In April, Muratec USA – in cooperation with its trusted dealer partner across the Midwest region, Cincinnati-based Technical Equipment Sales Company (TESCO) – will deliver its legacy of automation innovation by debuting the MT1065EX at PMTS 2025.

Featured alongside the MT1065EX at Cleveland’s Huntington Convention Center, booth 3073, Muratec will showcase the MSR60, a single-spindle turning center with Y-axis capabilities for multitasking machining, and the small but mighty MW35, a high-speed lathe designed for mass production of small parts in less than three seconds.
