Fastems announces the release of a higher payload version of its Flexible Pallet System (FPS), designed specifically to integrate larger machining centers. FPS is a modular automation system that enables high spindle utilization in mixed manufacturing with 4- and 5-axis milling and mill-turn machines.

Fastems FPS-1500 features a modular 360° design, integration capability with over 90 machine tool brands, and state-of-art production planning capabilities. To fit even in the most challenging spaces, FPS’s modular design allows machine tools, pallet storage units, and operator loading stations to be placed flexibly on all four sides of the system. With a maximum height of 3.5m to 4.15m, FPS-1500 is well-suited for low-ceiling facilities as well.

To meet production needs in mixed manufacturing settings, the pallet storage modules are configurable for different load heights. The pallet shelving units come with an in-built coolant collection system to keep the workpieces and the surroundings clean.

The control system of FPS is Fastems’ Manufacturing Management Software (MMS) that is designed specifically for high-mix manufacturing needs. It plans, runs, and monitors mixed manufacturing for timely orders, high capacity utilization, and minimal waste. With the MMS production guidance, everyone always knows what to prepare next to keep the machines spindles running.

“FPS brings the full flexible automation benefits to every machine shop – integrating machine tools that have traditionally been difficult to automate – and fitting in to even the most challenging spaces. Ever since we launched the 500kg and 1,000kg versions, we have been asked to integrate also larger machining centers – we are happy to tell it’s now possible,” explains Fastems VP of Automation Juha-Pekka Jalkanen.

The first systems will be delivered to customers during 2025.
