What makes the Nova so special?

There is not a feeling in the world like hopping in my car, firing up that motor, and taking a ride. People wave, they give you the thumbs up, it’s a great feeling. One day I was coming home from a show and I pulled alongside an SUV, and a little boy put his widow down. He had to be around 5. He was asking me something but my exhaust is so loud I could not make out what he was asking, finally his father yelled out, “He wants to know if it’s a big block?”

We cracked up, I said, “No, it’s a small block, 355,” and the kid just gave me the thumbs up and we both pulled away together.

How have you upgraded the Nova since you bought it?

The only things it lacked were disc brakes and stripes. I always had a thing about stripes. I took care of both of those things along with upgrading the heads and intake for more performance.

Where is it now?

I couldn’t afford such a car when I was growing up in the early ’80s so I had to wait until I turned 39 before buying one.

I’ve had this car for 12 awesome years now and it’s a beast. Since I have owned it, it’s been a real nice street car with an attitude. I’ve taken my older daughters to cruises and car shows, and now I take my youngest. Every once in a while, I take my grandson for a ride around the block.
