Haas Automation named lead tool supplier for Haas F1 Team
When the Haas F1 Team makes its debut in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2016, becoming the first American-led Formula One team in 30 years, its car will feature precision parts machined on Haas Automation CNC equipment.
The Haas F1 Team’s U.S. headquarters in Kannapolis, North Carolina, features 17 Haas machines in its 7,000ft2 machine shop – three UMC-750SS 5-axis universal machining centers, four 5-axis VF-5TR and VF-6TR trunnion VMCs, a 50-taper VF-11 VMC, four Haas ST-series Y-axis turning centers, and a 5-axis GR-712-5AX gantry router. An additional UMC-750SS and four other Haas machines will also be installed at Haas F1 Team’s European headquarters in Banbury, United Kingdom.
“It automatically conveys Haas Automation’s place among the pinnacle of motorsports,” says Gene Haas, president and founder of Haas Automation Inc. “When you hear F1 you know exactly what it is – a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design. Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States, and I want to grow that reputation worldwide.” www.haasf1team.com; www.haascnc.com
DMG MORI launches direct-to-customer sales
The machine tool company will double its service and sales centers to 27 locations across the country in close proximity to customers. This expansion will enable DMG MORI’s sales and service teams to more efficiently and effectively serve more than 13,000 customers and nearly 100,000 machine tool users.
The new model will connect employees closely to customers and will speed up critical processes, such as managing local service support and sharing product improvements. It also maximizes the company’s ability to quickly reach and service machines and take immediate action on customer feedback.
“DMG MORI USA will partner on a very localized basis with our customers to improve value and outcomes, and ensure they’re fully connected to the innovative power we can offer through our global size and scale,” says Dr. Thorsten Schmidt, CEO of DMG MORI USA. “This transition also opens great opportunities for DMG MORI employees who will now have the freedom to work directly with customers, co-create advancements, and deliver insight-driven solutions.”
The move to more localized service accompanies several DMG MORI USA leadership changes, which started with the company’s global executive board selecting Schmidt to lead DMG MORI USA. Schmidt will be supported by a management team of leaders presently with the company. Current president and CEO Mark Mohr will support the sales and service organization as president of DMG MORI Manufacturing USA Inc. in Davis, California.
Finally, the company will focus on a large-scale recruitment effort in local markets. This will ensure the best regional talent is brought on board to local sales and service centers, continuing DMG MORI’s commitment to supporting and expanding local economies with recruitment, training, and educational investment efforts. www.dmgmori.us
